Relationships and Sex Education: Every child is valued and respected.

Our framework for teaching RSE is set within the context of developing loving relationships, family and emotional well-being. It is taught through a whole range of means including discussions and activities plus post viewing discussions, activities and quizzes. Effective ground rules create an atmosphere in which children value each other’s contribution and develop respect for one another. We encourage children to ask questions –using a question box in the classroom.

RSE Knowledge taught

Children learn about RSE as part of science and personal, social and health education. RSE is not solated but is taught within the framework of caring relationships, families, friends, values and responsibility. A whole range of teaching approaches are used which will allow children to learn in a caring and sensitive way. The scheme of work is progressive and the learning in each year group builds on previous learning.

JIGSAW Charter

This is how we assess PSHE at the end of every lesson, the children evaluate their own learning:

Each Piece has two Learning Intentions: one is based on specific PSHE learning (purple) and one is based on emotional literacy and social skills development (green).

We also use key questions at the beginning and end of term to show how understanding has progressed. Here is an example
