Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is additional government funding to support students eligible for free school meals (currently or within the last 6 years), children of service families, and those who have been looked after for 6 months or more.

At Woodlands Primary School, our approach to Pupil Premium is to 'drop the kerb' for these pupils, ensuring barriers to learning are actively identified and removed so they can achieve their full potential. We are committed to high expectations for all our pupils and use evidence-based research to inform our strategy.

Importantly, evidence consistently shows that high-quality teaching has the highest leverage on raising standards for pupils, and this underpins our approach.

Our key priorities for this funding are focused on:

  • Reducing absence.
  • Improving behaviour.
  • Improving outcomes in Writing, Phonics, and Mathematics.

This allows us to provide targeted and effective support, built on robust evidence, to empower pupils to meet these high expectations through excellent teaching and the removal of learning barriers.

While we have the autonomy to decide how to best use this funding, we are accountable for its impact. You can find detailed information on how we've spent our Pupil Premium in the last financial year, the impact of this spending, and our plans for the future in the Pupil Premium Strategy Statement.
